After a MASSIVE night in August which saw a full club treated to an evening packed full of audio visual treats, this October sees the Prognosis crew head back to Loop to write the next chapter in their musical journey. A night not to be missed, the crew is once again set to explore the full spectrum of the progressive genre.

Prognosis welcomes back Darkbeat stalwart and Mink resident, Dave Juric, to lay down a fine selection of tunes from a genre that has long been aligned closely with the Melbourne scene. Playing alongside Prognosis resident J-Slyde, the two aficionados will delve deep into their collections to serve up a progressive breaks feast. Playing back-to-back, the two will take a look back at some of the tunes and artists that helped build the once thriving scene and acted as a catalyst in putting Melbourne on the global progressive map.

Joining them on the night is progressive house wunderkind Rysh Paprota whose highly acclaimed production and remix skills have seen him in high demand. Producer, DJ and front man of Budgie Collective online radio station, Square Eyes will be down to treat us to a showcase of his sound. Also along for the ride is Alex Butler who will be channeling the dusty dance-floors of the festival world as he packs a bag-load of tougher progressive weapons and gets ready set to unleash some musical mayhem.

Of course, no Prognosis event would be complete without the musical stylings of resident tune addicts Simon Murphy and Aaron Static, who will once again treat their audience to a captivating blend of the finest tunes on offer. Captivating crowds at some of Australia’s most highly regarded events with his artistic wizardry, vdmo Kstati is set to lay down the visual aspect of the night.

Bushweek 2011 – What do you think this is?
BushWeek Festival will return in June 2011 for another fun-filled week of workshops, music, arts, camping and all-round whohar!!! Taking place at the beautiful Home-Rule Rainforest Resort in Rossville, it starts on monday, the 20th of June continuing through till 26th of June.

I’ll be running VJ workshops which I had started doing two years ago in 2009 while adding some additional subjects this year including Intriduction to VJing, Overview of Current VJ scene in Australia, Technology and Production, Performance techniques, Audio/Video Performance Software Integration among many other subject that reflect day to day live visualist profession. People that are interested in this subject are particualrly encouraged to apply with topics ranging from beginners to advanced catered for. Musical Artists willing to share they midi (eg. via Ableton Live) are welcome – primarily for Friday and Saturday.

The workshops will be ran on Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th and Saturday 25th. ( I had shifted these further into the week as more people would be able to access them through the week. Something I have learned from two years ago).

This being a second installement from Island Elements crew with a mix of local and national talents which brings you these events on 2 monthly basis. With glorious weather throughout North Queensland Winter Season, what a way to come out to this and unwind surrounded by great people, live and local arts and amazing selection of music. The event is being held from 9th till 10th of July 2011, so mark you calendars and join in the fun! For more info read on!!!

PHIL K

In today’s age of electronic music, the rise to stardom is often as fast as the fall into obscurity. Solidarity is hard to come by, but Melbourne native Phil K has proven that when it comes to DJing, experience, vision, and just plain persistence pay off. His twenty plus years as a world class DJ have won him one of the largest cult followings in the EDM community. Phil has been labeled as one of, if not the most technically-skilled DJs in the world. With a fan base ranging from peers like Sasha, Seaman, Meat Katie and James Zabiela, touting Phil as his “favorite DJ”, to clubbers from Sri Lanka to Seattle, it’s hard to argue; Phil K has truly left his mark. .. Phil K developed his trade from meager beginnings, purchasing his first turntable in 1984 after saving enough cash from work at a fast food chain.
After years sharpening his mixing abilities and spinning at any party or event that would have him, he progressed to playing out at the biggest clubs and hottest parties in Melbourne, including the famous “Sunny”. He continued on to the hottest clubs in Australia and was crowned with the coveted Australian Dance Music Awards “Best DJ,” “Best Radio Show,” and “Lifetime Achievement” awards.
Described on the decks as a “mind blowing machine” by UK’s Meat Katie, Phil’s tenacious mixing abilities, track selection, and cutting-edge style became crystal clear to the international scene. He soon found himself supporting various acts from Kraftwerk to Sasha and devastating crowds at festivals such as Glastonbury, Sonar, and Big Day Out and countless international clubs such as Fabric, Zouk, and Ministry of Sound.
Phil’s DJ mix cds have left listeners begging for more. With 7 under his belt, including Therapy Sessions with Dave Seaman and a Y4K release, fans are always in anticipation of his latest compilation.

Im a bit excited about this one, have never played in Revolver (Band Room) and its a well know venue which gave strong launching platform for artists in Melbourne . With years of experience in the music industry across a number of different fields, Paul Kearney has, produced music for film, television , radio and performed internationally as a percussionist, drummer & keyboardist playing many styles from classical, rock, dance and experimental. As a producer in the electronic music world Paul released his first solo album ‘Mainframe’ in 2000 and the 12” single ‘Faktory Direct’ on Nine09 label, following up with subsequent compilation releases on Green Ant, Well Worn Records and Fabula Records.

Andrew Till (Sub Records)

With a DJ career spanning almost twenty years, Andrew Till has seen more genres and styles come and go than most of us can name. Starting out in the late 1980′s, he became known for fusing together many elements of electronic and experimental music. Via techno, trance, ambient, acid house, industrial, and psychedelic he is synonymous with an eclectic, varied spectrum of sound.

As one of pivotal forces behind the Melbourne electronic music community, he established Melbourne’s first dedicated underground electronic label Psy-Harmonics in 1992 with Ollie Olsen, which now has over 70 releases and a huge international following. Over the last few
years Andrew has set up two more record labels, Sub label, for the more trance/dance orientated sounds and Cyan Music for ambient chill out releases.

As well as regularly Djing around Australia, Andrew has been a regular on the international circuit over the last fifteen years with tours to places including; Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, London, Sweden, Helsinki, Denmark, New Zealand, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, South Africa also including numerous gigs within Japan from the largest festivals & nightclubs, to the most intimate indoor and outdoor venues.
Andrew is one DJ that isn’t afraid to experiment with new sounds and is forever pushing boundaries, this has earned him respect worldwide.

Friends become enemies, enemies become friends, our protagonist makes a life altering choice and learns an important lesson; it’s all very exciting! Something for everyone…

It is freedom, it is love and it is of all the interesting people who joined me on this mission. My set is this story, it is my psychedelic journey written in sound.

vdmo Kstati is passionate Visualist/VJ acting as Multimedia producer that strongly believes that Visual aspects are extremely important in any Event production and particularly enjoys performing with Electronic Dance Music as source of Inspiration.
