After a MASSIVE night in August which saw a full club treated to an evening packed full of audio visual treats, this October sees the Prognosis crew head back to Loop to write the next chapter in their musical journey. A night not to be missed, the crew is once again set to explore the full spectrum of the progressive genre.

Prognosis welcomes back Darkbeat stalwart and Mink resident, Dave Juric, to lay down a fine selection of tunes from a genre that has long been aligned closely with the Melbourne scene. Playing alongside Prognosis resident J-Slyde, the two aficionados will delve deep into their collections to serve up a progressive breaks feast. Playing back-to-back, the two will take a look back at some of the tunes and artists that helped build the once thriving scene and acted as a catalyst in putting Melbourne on the global progressive map.

Joining them on the night is progressive house wunderkind Rysh Paprota whose highly acclaimed production and remix skills have seen him in high demand. Producer, DJ and front man of Budgie Collective online radio station, Square Eyes will be down to treat us to a showcase of his sound. Also along for the ride is Alex Butler who will be channeling the dusty dance-floors of the festival world as he packs a bag-load of tougher progressive weapons and gets ready set to unleash some musical mayhem.

Of course, no Prognosis event would be complete without the musical stylings of resident tune addicts Simon Murphy and Aaron Static, who will once again treat their audience to a captivating blend of the finest tunes on offer. Captivating crowds at some of Australia’s most highly regarded events with his artistic wizardry, vdmo Kstati is set to lay down the visual aspect of the night.

Sitting at the forefront of the electronic music scene is a brand that has kept its integrity and vision to support forward thinking Dj’s, artists, and producers alike. It’s clear perception and commitment to expression through the sound medium allows the necessary conditions for creativity, which has seen it grow in reputation from a little known local series to the benchmark against which any new series is measured.
The ‘Balance’ CD series harks back to an era when dance music wasn’t just a commodity; the series a constant reminder of the tightrope it walks by capturing an elusive ideal: combining the excitement of old with a cutting edge approach.
The official launch of Nick Warren’s Balance 018 earlier this year saw it take-off in style, headlining the ‘Balance Series – Miami 2011’ which saw Nick Warren, Deetron, Henry Saiz, Desyn Masiello, Paolo Mojo, Chris Fortier, Anthony Pappa and Rollin Connection all get behind the controls in one massive night that is still being cheekily talked about now reflecting on the WMC 2011.

Now… its time to hit the home turf with a series of parties planned to showcase the very best electronic artists the global scene has to offer.

The first local event of 2011 will celebrate the release of Guy J’s new artist album ‘1000 Words’ on Bedrock Records…

Balance is proud to present:

Guy J

Guy J is a young, much-in-demand, innovative producer, DJ and live act, whose infectious production talents, busy worldwide touring schedule, electric live shows and groundbreaking debut album on Bedrock ( released in 2008 ) have all led to this point and the creation of his stunning new masterpiece: “1000 Words”.
Along with a handful of his fellow countrymen; this young Israeli (now based in Antwerp; Belgium) is now at the forefront of a movement towards the melody-rich and emotionally charged roots of the house music spectrum. “1000 Words”, spread over 3 CDs on John Digweed’s forward thinking Bedrock label showcases the extraordinary talents of Guy J. His productions have constantly earned praise and gained many fans for their tight, driving beats, shimmering, warm synths and blossoming, journey like arrangements. Across 3 CDs he is given the space to explore the exciting, timeless space between ambient, experimental electronica, techno and beyond. Throughout, he constantly maintains a melodic and highly emotive core, creating a body of work structured and presented in a highly creative way.

Guy J is one of the stand-out electronic artists in the world today!

Andrew Till (Sub Records)

With a DJ career spanning almost twenty years, Andrew Till has seen more genres and styles come and go than most of us can name. Starting out in the late 1980′s, he became known for fusing together many elements of electronic and experimental music. Via techno, trance, ambient, acid house, industrial, and psychedelic he is synonymous with an eclectic, varied spectrum of sound.

As one of pivotal forces behind the Melbourne electronic music community, he established Melbourne’s first dedicated underground electronic label Psy-Harmonics in 1992 with Ollie Olsen, which now has over 70 releases and a huge international following. Over the last few
years Andrew has set up two more record labels, Sub label, for the more trance/dance orientated sounds and Cyan Music for ambient chill out releases.

As well as regularly Djing around Australia, Andrew has been a regular on the international circuit over the last fifteen years with tours to places including; Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, London, Sweden, Helsinki, Denmark, New Zealand, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, South Africa also including numerous gigs within Japan from the largest festivals & nightclubs, to the most intimate indoor and outdoor venues.
Andrew is one DJ that isn’t afraid to experiment with new sounds and is forever pushing boundaries, this has earned him respect worldwide.

Crimemaster Gogo

My set is a story of an adventure, set in a sinister forest in forever mountains, right next to a beach. Faithful companions, a snake in the sleeve, flutterbyes and twenty five monkeys. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends, our protagonist makes a life altering choice and learns an important lesson; it’s all very exciting! Something for everyone…

It is freedom, it is love and it is of all the interesting people who joined me on this mission. My set is this story, it is my psychedelic journey written in sound.

Suseri (DXM)

My magical music journey started 9 years ago with a life changing experience, a DJ made me realize the power of expression that music can offer and everything changed forever. I knew this is what I wanted to do, to be able to share my love and energy for music with the world. Everything felt right since then. I moved to Australia for this reason and never looked back. I am DJ Suseri, and I love music. I love to share my experiences and the different realities it helps to create. Music brings an uncontainable joy, come share that high and make that connection with me on the dancefloor.

HiJacker (DXM)

A unique ability to foresee future trends in electronic music has rendered him a visionary, keeping HiJacker a step ahead of the usual scene.

With tireless efforts and unrelenting enthusiasm, Hijacker and his pet project, DXM, have played a significant role in shaping Melbourne’s underground techno culture.

HiJacker’s passion for the genre is realised on the decks to deliver a super charged, high impact and deep techno journey with a maximum dance quotient.

Never half-assed, a HiJacker set brings together years of international experience, is always inspiring and a memorable music event.

Hot on the heels of their debut event the Prognosis krew are gearing up for their second chapter back at Loop. Smashing the venue sideways and showing Melbourne that there’s a new team on the scene, their first event quite simply, WENT OFF! Partying till the early morn the krew had beats bumping, beers chugging, visuals projecting, lasers lasering and the crowd dancing till close of venue at 5am… And this time round is set to be of no exception!

Welcoming back to the decks we have Aaron Static. For those that witnessed his set at our last event, you’ll know exactly why we’ve decided to invite him back – those that were not, all you need to know is shit got lively! Progasms were on the menu and the man was not shy in dishing them out!

Accompanying Static, we’ve been lucky enough to secure the dynamic duo that are Punkz On Junk. Wowing Australian crowds and bush doofers alike these boys know how to rock and will be bringing their unique attitude-driven Prog sound to the decks with force!

Visual duties for the night will be handled by the one and only vdmo Kstati. A visual maestro when it comes to VJing there’s a large chance you’ve already seen this man perform without even knowing it. Traveling the country for the last few years Kstati has visually supported some of the largest artists in the world and the best festivals and club nights around Australia. From D-Nox to Nick Skitz, Paul Van Dyk to Infected Mushroom, you name em and there’s a huge chance the man has dropped his visual mark upon them!

Following on we’ll also have Darko providing his unique flavour of dark and twisted techno and tech-house along with residents J-Slyde and Simon Murphy who are guaranteed to bring nothing but quality beats to the table.

The newest chapter in forward thinking night-life is here. If like your quality electronic music… then the only prognosis is Prognosis!
