This being a second installement from Island Elements crew with a mix of local and national talents which brings you these events on 2 monthly basis. With glorious weather throughout North Queensland Winter Season, what a way to come out to this and unwind surrounded by great people, live and local arts and amazing selection of music. Island Elements is held every two months, with the musical treats and feasts growing with the event that is clearly a night and days to remember. Made by locals, for locals. (Visitors Welcome)

Fuzion (Kana)

At the age of 15, the art of dj’ing & music manipulation captured the mind & imagination of a young man addicted to music. It was in his early teens that he developed a passion for electronic music, devoting the rest of his life to a singular obsession. In 1997 he applied himself to the art & began forging his technique. 3 Turntables, 2 Cdj’s, 1 Pioneer DJM 800 mixer, 1 loop sampler & 1 bag of top shelf techno. A fusion is when two or more things join, or are combined; & this definition describes DJ Fuzion perfectly. By layering record over record over record & carefully controlling the mixes whilst manipulating his loop sampler, Fuzion is able to create new remixes out of current classics. Handpicked to support legends like Carl Cox, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin & Adam Beyer, Fuzion = Quality.

Kim De La Haye (Junglettes / Rukus / Shiver Me Bassbins)

New Zealand born & raised Kim de la Haye aka DJ de la Haye, has been one of the most hardworking & energetic members of the Brisbane broken-beat scene, since moving to Australia in 2000. With track selection, mixing & a smile that sets any dancefloor ablaze, de la Haye is a regularly booked DJ, not to mention one of the scene’s leading promoters.
Before discovering jungle in ’96, Kim’s early musical influences ranged from soul, funk, reggae & hiphop to rock, punk & metal. Perhaps in this, we find the blue print for her versatility. Whether its dub or ragga vibes, driving techstep darkness, complex drum choppage, or rolling liquid sounds, de la Haye’s drum’n’bass sets offer something for all tastes.
She has played all around Australia & New Zealand, as well as opening the Feline stage at the 2009 Sun & Bass Festival in Sardinia Italy & the 2010 Paradise in Bali Festival. What cannot be under-stated, is Kim’s massive contribution to promoting in the Brisbane broken- beat community. In 2003 she formed the female DJ crew ‘Junglettes’ , in 2004 began the dub n jungle nights ‘Ragga’d’ & ‘Offshoots of Reggae’, & in 2005 started the hard DnB/Dubstep night ‘Rukus’ alongside SpeakerWrath.
Through both collabs with other local crews & on her own, de la Haye’s events have hosted most of the international DnB acts that have come through Brisbane over the past 6 years. This incredible & often solo effort has been a driving force & integral part in the growth of this scene in Brisbane.

Moista Cloista (SixBux/CrankTheSteza)

Moista Cloista is a psychoacoustic science experiment gone wrong, brought to life in an underwater lab somewhere in the post apocalyptic swamps of Shanti Town by the hideously deformed and slightly insane Dr. Lawnsnail. After a falling out with Dr. Lawnsnail about the natives involuntary flatulence and nipple retraction caused by prolonged exposure to the Cloista’s low end frequency experiments, and deciding Shanti Town was way too shanti, Moista Cloista left home with his box of moist, heinous post-apocalyptic sledgestep to cause flatulence, nipple retraction and mayhem elsewhere. Moista Cloista was last seen cranking the steza and experimenting with flatulent basslines and wonky dub inspired beats along side Artists and Dj’s such as Datsik, An-ten-Nae, Tipper, iLL Gates, Dov, Propa Tingz, Opiuo, Spoonbill and many more…

Sangers & Ra (Breaks & Enter / Adicts)

Sangers & Ra are the premier breakbeat DJ/production duo out of Brisbane, Australia who officially came together in late 2009. The cornerstone of the recent east coast Breakbeat revival in Australia, the pair are residents of Queensland’s #1 Broken Beat night, Breaks & Enter, and members of the infamous ADICTS promotion team. Since joining forces, the guys have been hard at work producing dancefloor bangers in the studio as well as developing their “Dex n Fx ^2″ DJ setup for the clubs. Sangers & Ra are the first DJ pairing in the scene to formulate a new twist on the “Dex n Fx” performance format with both working simultaneously on the Decks as well as Effects – hence the title “Dex n Fx ^2″ (“Squared”). Kosha d

Since moving from Adelaide in 2001, Dylan House, aka Kosha D, has played a substantial role in the perpetuation of Brisbane’s Drum n Bass scene over the last decade. From spearheading Phat alBeats, which held residency at Empire’s Moon Bar for 4 solid years, to flying solo with Junkyard Sessions at Step Inn over the last 2 years, Dylan has stayed true to broken flavoured beats. This motivation is fuelled by his love for the music, the range of influences that Drum n Bass has to offer and a keen desire to share his passion. When djing, Dylan highlights this eclectic nature, as punters are kept guessing with a diverse yet smooth sonic journey through funk, jazz, latino and reggae infused beats, with the stereotypical, harder elements of DnB dropped as aural exclamation marks. Dylan has provided support for the likes of D Bridge, Ed Rush and Optical, Goldie, Calyx, London Electricity and many more, at a range of clubs and events across Australia.

Miike Ruxspiin (Praxis)

A versatile and defined sound: Miike Ruxspiin started out listening to hiphop and electronica in the early 90′s. His love for music took him to the Sydney club scene where he spent every weekend bangin’ out to electro and techhouse beats. This is where it all started!! After watching his mates spinning up the wax at kick-ons, he decided to have a go and from there it was an addiction!! He soon went out and bought his own Technics 3 years ago and hasn’t looked back since. After mixing up the Sydney electro scene with the likes of Matt Freeman (laundry matt) Damian O’leary, TonyWhy, Bazza, The Doctor, Tash Chamberland, Redlock and Brenden Fing, he’s since moved in the direction of MINIMAL / TECHNO / TECHHOUSE

A mixed bag of club and dance floor treats are heading north for the first joint effort from two of Cairns’ leading promoters in Electric Avenue and FireArt Entertainment. Friday 26th November you will be more than welcome to join Infected Mushroom, Yolanda Be Cool, Minilogue and Neelix plus a ton of local support at Mixed Bag for one night at AJ Hackett.
You have Infected Mushroom’s massive legion of followers, an ever-growing repertoire of classic albums of rocking trance and a live show like no other… Throw in Yolanda Be Cool’s infectious global hit “We No Speak Americano’ and whacked out future d-floor funk…. Minilogue’s (SonKite) unique Swedish twist on techno and melodies in a throbbing live show that will break any sweat… Plus Neelix’s relentless trance bangers that have propelled him further into cult figure status.

Lovers of electronic music have been esteeming Minilogue for many years. In 2010 it is almost impossible to imagine club music without the two musicians from Malmö, Sweden.
After releasing outstanding productions on such renowned labels as Traum, Crosstown Rebels or Wagon Repair, there opus magnum is to appear on Sven Väths Cocoon Recordings. There are few producers who match Cocoon’s vision of an electronic sound both on the dancefloor and beyond the club so perfectly: “Animals” covers a wide spectrum of music, it reaches from peaktime techno to beatless deep ambient. NEELIX (Live)
One could say that the creative act of piecing together several ideas by using the computer is kind of golden thread in the life of Henrik Twardzik. Having a creative vein on the one hand and heaps of experience with clicking the mouse buttons hundreds of times per day, piling up sequences on a computer screen on the other, he moved forward pretty fast. His first releases rapidly gained popularity and simultaneously Henrik got more and more enthusiastic about producing music. Taking the necessary actions as a result of that made his girlfriend pronounce a certain phrase: Get a proper job! Well, today she doesn’t say that any more…
Following the patterns of classical Progressive Trance Henrik slowly but constantly developed a very own style. His album “No Way To Leave” from 2005 marks a turning point in his musical career: With this one he founded his own school of Trance music, consequently following the paradigm of Progressive in the very original meaning of this term. Today Henrik is happy with the positive feedback from Trance fans all around the world and even being asked to produce music for TV commercials and popular movies.

Rainbow Serpent 2010

My first ever Rainbow and first time performance. This multi day event of epic proportions had attracted over 12 thousand people over duration of 4 days and provided plenty of entertainment and arts to see and experience. I ended up having to play 3 vj sets over the course of the festival; Friday night on Sunset Stage(with dust storms coming through the night), Sunday night @ Chill Stage with Tipper and Spoonbill and shortly after set @ Market Stage to likes of Grouch, Player 1 and few more.

There is so much that could be said about this festival, but yet its best to be experienced. Photos coming Shortly.
