MIXED BAG 2010
A mixed bag of club and dance floor treats are heading north for the first joint effort from two of Cairns’ leading promoters in Electric Avenue and FireArt Entertainment. Friday 26th November you will be more than welcome to join Infected Mushroom, Yolanda Be Cool, Minilogue and Neelix plus a ton of local support at Mixed Bag for one night at AJ Hackett.
You have Infected Mushroom’s massive legion of followers, an ever-growing repertoire of classic albums of rocking trance and a live show like no other… Throw in Yolanda Be Cool’s infectious global hit “We No Speak Americano’ and whacked out future d-floor funk…. Minilogue’s (SonKite) unique Swedish twist on techno and melodies in a throbbing live show that will break any sweat… Plus Neelix’s relentless trance bangers that have propelled him further into cult figure status.
All these acts are headliners in their own right; there is no doubt this will culminate into something special for those looking for one last hurrah before summer hits. Joined by a dozen local dj’s and a DJ Comp Winner yet to be announced.

INFECTED MUSHROOM (Live)
Psy-Trance innovators Infected Mushroom have become one of the biggest electronic bands on the planet. Twice ranked among the world’s 10 best DJs/Acts by the bible of the scene, the U.K.’s DJ Magazine, the Israel-bred, L.A. based duo bring a frenetic rock energy to the form. Their explosive show, featuring guitars, live drums, intensely passionate vocals and an ambitious multimedia backdrop, ranks among the genre’s most unpredictably joyous events. And their recordings continually venture where other electronic acts fear to tread.
From the Ultra Fest in Miami to the Virgin Festival in Baltimore, from Mexico’s OMIX to Cali’s Coachella, from Brazil’s Ipanema Beach to Melbourne’s Metro Club, Infected Mushroom average about 120 live performances per year.
http://www.infected-mushroom.com/

YOLANDA BE COOL
If Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson, aka Yolanda Be Cool, were in the Carpenters, they would be singing “We’ve only just begun.”
We No Speak Americano has reached no 5 on the overall Beatport chart and number one on the House Chart, the most requested song on triple j, not to mention 235,000 (and growing daily) views on youtube.
2009 was a massive year for these two, exclusively signing their releases to Ajax’s Sweat It Out label, their bookings to his agency not to mention their original productions and remixes receiving huge support from some of the scene’s biggest players, they are far from slowing down, instead going into overdrive in the studio to ensure that the year 2010 is one that is filled with their brand of party tech.
http://www.myspace.com/yolandabecool

MINILOGUE (Live)
Lovers of electronic music have been esteeming Minilogue for many years. In 2010 it is almost impossible to imagine club music without the two musicians from Malmö, Sweden.
After releasing outstanding productions on such renowned labels as Traum, Crosstown Rebels or Wagon Repair, there opus magnum is to appear on Sven Väths Cocoon Recordings. There are few producers who match Cocoon’s vision of an electronic sound both on the dancefloor and beyond the club so perfectly: “Animals” covers a wide spectrum of music, it reaches from peaktime techno to beatless deep ambient. The immediacy of the club tracks sweeps everything away that is circumstantial and long-winded in contemporary dance music. The tracks incorporate the elegance and simplicity of classical early Nineties’ techno, the economy and lightness of the minimal sound and the sweetness and charm of the recent developments.
http://www.minilogue.com/

NEELIX (Live)
One could say that the creative act of piecing together several ideas by using the computer is kind of golden thread in the life of Henrik Twardzik. Having a creative vein on the one hand and heaps of experience with clicking the mouse buttons hundreds of times per day, piling up sequences on a computer screen on the other, he moved forward pretty fast. His first releases rapidly gained popularity and simultaneously Henrik got more and more enthusiastic about producing music. Taking the necessary actions as a result of that made his girlfriend pronounce a certain phrase: Get a proper job! Well, today she doesn’t say that any more…
Following the patterns of classical Progressive Trance Henrik slowly but constantly developed a very own style. His album “No Way To Leave” from 2005 marks a turning point in his musical career: With this one he founded his own school of Trance music, consequently following the paradigm of Progressive in the very original meaning of this term. Today Henrik is happy with the positive feedback from Trance fans all around the world and even being asked to produce music for TV commercials and popular movies.

What started out as a ‘discovery’ compilation in 2008 has now established itself as a musical expedition cutting through the noise of Electro House into something much deeper. The second volume in the series, Progression 2 is an emotive compilation of tracks mixed by Adam K and Hook N Sling.

Driven almost solely by word of mouth, 2008′s Progression spread through the underground club community just as the reign of the super club came to an end. Despite not having been mixed by a headliner, it continues to win new followers over with it’s peerless musical vision 6 months on.

Progression 2 showcases an epic selection of atmospheric tracks and heralds in a new era in the constantly evolving underground club scene. This time around, with two of the scene’s most prominent figures at the helm to mix the album Progression 2 will be taking in a string of special club events across the country.

Adam K, who featured prominently in the first Progression, has returned to mix Disc 1. Known for his blending of Progressive, Electro, Techno, and Tech House, he is one of the sole representatives of the Progression sound, and brings with him a unique approach to mixing, inspired by his time spent totally immersed in all aspects of dance music.

Having spent years composing, producing, and engineering he has collaborated with and remixed numerous world renowned artist including Deadmau5, Tiesto, and Hatiras. More recently Adam has landed numerous Top 10 tracks on Beatport and his latest, “Twilight”, was lauded as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune in November.

With an impressive collection of hits under his belt already including “The Bump” and “The Best Thing 2008″, Hook N Sling has mixed Disc 2.

Instantly recognised by his richly layered trademark sound, this is not Anthony’s first foray into mixing, having compiled Ministry’s wildly successful gold-selling compilation “Clubbers Guide to 2008″. But he is by no means a safe choice, being known one of the most unpredictable, genre-blending producers to come on the scene in recent years, a title which has lead him to places most only dream about.
Anthony has been placed in inthemix’s Top 5 producers, and has been nominated for an ARIA, amongst numerous other local and international accolades. He has also remixed for other artists including Martijn Ten Velden, Bass Kleph, Stanton Warriors, The Potbelleez, and The Cobra Dukes. And these intelligent club productions continue to forge his notoriety both here and abroad with forthcoming remixes on Germany’s Pickadoll label as well as Roger Sanchez’ stealth imprint.
