For visually inclined artists who participate in video manipulation and evolve to progress visual revolution though the use of technology and methods of interaction and display, its a common thing to visualise and project on possibilities where things will go. Among artists that I speak to and share my views with, there is a growing interest towards creating and using new methods of interacting with video medium and content. With this being said, its quite apparent that quite a lot of technologies not only real but already have some place in functioning space, the only borders that seems to still persist are the actual costs and some additional implementation and bridging few of the technologies together. As far as possibilities, there are a lot of amazing platforms and ideas that are out there already. That’s a good news for us!

Few years ago there was this amazing presentation at TED- Ideas Worth Spreading Conference..I’m pretty sure it dates up to 4 years ago now and I would like to refresh some of the project ideas that currently cultivated to a
job that compnay called PerceptivePixel is doing now. Here at the following video you can see Jeff Han is manipulating sets of media and data objects using multi touch screen solution which his compnay is working on.

Combination of technologies which allow you to bring new additional levels of interactivity into a visual spectrum is among the most important elements that I see will shape up the progress at how we look and interact with visuals. Recently coming across a post blog on Piksel.no have found this particular example which might be of interest to many actively practising multi-media practitioners.

Flick Flock defines the meaning of the body and its linkage to the continuous transformation of the urban place and the way it can construct and deconstruct society. It is reflecting the interconnections of bodies and space, reshaping each other to form such an unbound relationship. Using stereoscopic and ambisonic 3D technology, Flick Flock recreates the digital urban space we are living in to allow us to immersively experience the role of the physical body as a vehicle of expression and knowledge. Hello all, few days without ongoing access to the internet so without much updates on the blog. Lots been going on. Arrived in Melbourne week before Rainbow Serpent Festival and got saddled in for a bit with some good friends.

Rainbow Serpent 2010

My first ever Rainbow and first time performance. This multi day event of epic proportions had attracted over 12 thousand people over duration of 4 days and provided plenty of entertainment and arts to see and experience. I ended up having to play 3 vj sets over the course of the festival; Friday night on Sunset Stage(with dust storms coming through the night), Sunday night @ Chill Stage with Tipper and Spoonbill and shortly after set @ Market Stage to likes of Grouch, Player 1 and few more.

There is so much that could be said about this festival, but yet its best to be experienced. Photos coming Shortly.

Melbourne

Now living in Melbourne, have few projects that are coming up. This Saturday 30th of January will be playing closing vj set @ Hi-Fi Bar for the Tipper show show with Opiuo. Will be vjing throughout the night with Dropbear and Netzair. Very exciting.. see you there…

News Update:
Tonight I’m playing @ Roxanne Parlour for official Rainbow Serpent After party with Roberts Babicz, Jonny Mac, Abakus and Ree K along a string of Melbourne VJ crew – Yabberwocky, Inxcile and possibly few others. See you there…as well :)

art-code
While recently browsing through sets of my favourite websites, I have come across a series of Workshops which have been captured at “Art & Code” conference that had taken place March 7-9th, 2009 at Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburg, PA.

The presentations given by each speaker brings source of inspiration and passion blended by the preferred methods of they chosen technology. Its good to see those people that initiate and strongly help to evolve the products that we all use from day to day basis in out visual creation pursuit. So, take a moment and watch some of these. Highly recommended.

First post for 2010. Has to be done!
Happy happy 2010 to all of you, wishing you the best of everything you ever wish for.

The year started with a bang and a bit of a rain, which believe me, dont spoil the party atmosphere. For New Years eve. Cairns City Council had organised a series of activities on a stretch of the Esplanade for NYE festivities with two music stages, joy rides, food stalls for everyone to come and enjoy. Typically to a North Queensland new years weather you could bet that it will be wet and so it was. Despite the fact, people rocked up to the city in they thousands and had plenty to see and check out.

My role was to do visuals for few hours of visuals with approach to new years eve at the stage where they had few DJs playing that evening. Operating from the front of the house, I had pretty good view of the party and luckily was protected from the weather as it showered regularly.

The show went basically without a hitch. Music was to keep people dancing and all djs I though did a good job.

Last friday I was performing @ Gilligans nightclub with everyone’s anticipation for Infected Mushroom Show.
Its an honour to be part of this project and so my thanks goes out to Fireart Entertainment and Gilligans nightclub for making it happen…and also thanks to my friends ay FestivalVision for doing some amazing video feed work. Shane, Justin, Craigos and Sanaz..

Was awesome production and many other great artists have played great music and put on a great show. Subhuman Funk, a new formation of a group of artists had brough the house down as they warmed up before Infected mushroom.

Posting pictures shortly.

As I wake this morning, there is a quick realisation that its a last day for 2009. With some prep still to go for the show @ Cairns Esplanade (I’m on from 7ish till midnight..) I think back on all the things that happened through the year and in particular with the work that I have done and doing in regards of VJing and Visual productions.
vj-view
This year has clearly been the busiest yet!! I don’t recall any other time where I was so strongly involved in such an array of very diverse and unique events that have been set all throughout Australia East Coast. This year has been an opening opportunity for me to step outside of Queensland which I have been covering for close to 4 years and had already made my mark in Victoria and New South Wales. And this is only the beginning.

There has been a lot of learning and realisations and despite some of the difficulties along the way, I’m still confident to keep walking forward strongly and in matter of fact really enjoy this journey!

The following year is already filling up quickly with sets of interstate shows primarily in Cairns and Melbourne/Victoria with some NSW and SE QLD are already filling up my busy schedule. To some extent it almost feels that I’m moving to Victoria for a while, but yet its only a passing through stage and generally I seek to grow and expand on International Circuit before the next year is out.

It gives me a great pleasure to thank all the people that have played such an amazing part in all the endeavours that I was fortunate to be part of in the year 2009:

Massive kudos goes out to ALL Promoters and Artists as well as all Production crews that I have worked with this year. Especially I would like to thank my Winter Solstice family, Open Records, Little Rascal Records, Digger Street Arts Community, Bushweek Festival, Electric Avenue, Ministry of Sound Australia, Taste-y, Alliance Techniqe in Melbourne, Landcrabs Festival, Mackay Festival of Arts, VJ Dreamtek in Sydney, SLBeatz collective, Q-Dance Australia (XQ) and especially Dr Willis and Matt Chromatic, Festlinx Far North QLD – Melissa Robertson, Illumination Cairns, Cairns Festival of Arts, Earthdance, VJ Prosporous, VJ Morph, VJ Asterix, Matty Moon, Shiptu_shaboo, Dropbear, Spoonbill, Suspect, VJ Forums Community, VJ Loops(Kyle + Solly), 15/15 Festival- Festival Vision(Shane), Fireart Entertainment(Terry you rock!), Gilligans Cairns, Jivan Arpitam, Dave Masters, Subculture Creations + my Persian sister…and all my close friends and family throughout Australia!!! Thank you!

Happy 2010!!!

This news just came in via GetUp!!!
This is very important for all of us, so please read and respond. The Future of Internet in Australia depends on it!

GetUp!Stephen Conroy has just announced his Government will censor all internet traffic with a mandatory ISP-level filter.

Over 120,000 Australians have taken a stand against his flawed scheme that will do little more than divert funds away from where they’re needed most, and now he plans to bring legislation before Parliament next year. Can you send him an email or fax letting him know your reaction to this announcement?
